The first meeting of the Scribbles Book Club commenced on January 17 @ 7:00. We had three members present, Vivian, Tyler, and Tracey. We had a suprise when a reporter from The Community Recorder, Chris Mayhew, arrived and interviewed our group and took pictures for an upcoming article. ( He also joined our group!) Also, Sandy, our wonderful Scribbles hostess had a chance to sit down with us and talk books. We think she's read everything in the store!
Our Scribbles club members had a great time discussing our favorite titles and chose our first book for discussion.
We have chosen: The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy for our next meeting on February 21 at 7:00.

FAQs:
What if I don't read the book, do I still come? Sure! Come and listen to the discussion and visit with people in your community. Have some coffee and just chill!
What if I don't like it? There are alot of books that I love and many that I do not. Come share why you didn't. Book clubs aren't there for judgement, they are there to listen and learn.
What if I can't make the meetings? No problem! Post on the blog and try to make it next time!
Where can I find the book? You may order the book directly from Scribbles. Just talk to Sandy. Campbell County Public Library owns copies of the book, audios, and movies. You may also find copies of the book at other library systems around our area such as the Kenton County Public Library and the Clermont County Public Library.
NEXT MEETING FEBRUARY 21, 2008 @ 7:00 AT THE SCRIBBLES CAFE IN ALEXANDRIA!!

I went out and purchased Mayor of Casterbridge, but haven't started reading it yet.
Tracey, thanks for doing all the research and finding all those links. I think they will come in very handy.
Has anybody started yet?
I'm purchasing the book tomorrow. I was going to just check it out but I want to take notes in the book as I'm sure you will too. No problem with the research it's actually enjoyable to me, if you have any other links to add, please feel free. I don't know if anyone else has started yet, but I will be starting it tomorrow. I will be working on the advertising of the book on Tuesday. Did you get a chance to thumb through Book Club Companion?
Hi! My name is Evie. I didn't get to make it to the first meeting. I picked up a copy of the book at our small library in Pendleton County. So far I really like the book. It moves faster than i thought it would but it is great. I will see you at the next book club meeting b/c i requested off work. :) Happy reading everybody!!!
Evie,
Nice to meet you! I'm glad you are enjoying the book! I look forward to meeting you at our next book club meeting. I have read Tess by Hardy long ago and liked it very much. I'm looking forward to getting started on the book this weekend. I intended to start it sooner than this but I had two other books that I wanted to finish before I sunk my teeth into a Hardy classic.
I'm so glad you took off of work! Can't wait to discuss!
